Cue ID Help...

Friend's cue find...I told him not to get his hopes up lol...but told him I would post it here for confirmation...apparently there are no markings on this cue...the mark that appears to be on the buttcap is just from the camera...

Working on getting the usually requested pics from him...any preliminary guesses or imported junk...

No one has any guesses or has seen this style cue before?
 
No way to tell until better pics. I do notice that the butterfly splices are not very even and that shaft has a major taper so who knows. Just from that pic my vote leans towards import.
 
I know the picture is AWFUL but my friend is having difficulties with the pictures...I know its impossible to positively ID it but can someone point us in the right direction...how about the slanted box ringwork...
 
Need better pictures. If he can't produce better pictures to help ID the cue, I suggest that the cue be taken to someone that can take the necessary pictures and then provide them that way. I have an idea of what it might be, but nobody is going to chime in without being somewhat sure. No point in taking shots in the dark if its pointless...
