very interesting questions. I'll start by saying I've had requests for longer cue's for the past 8 years. Seams I do 4-6 customs a year. usualy 30in butts and 30in shafts. Although I had 1 32in butt and 32in shafts. These cue's sold in the used/aftermarket is catering to a specific group wanting longer cues.
To answer if it would effect value, absolutly. It can be positive. Say you have a 60in custom cue and someone is looking for one, well if specs are close to what he's looking for and no waiting and the builder is of a good rep, than value is subjective.
It can be a negative also, here is one from my personal experience. Theres a guy whom I am friends with and do buisness with. He has a $6000 Ray Shuler, It's one of the 3 kings (you know the cue's if your a Shuler fan). Anyway Jose Parica used a cue that was exactly like this one in 2001 ebony, ivory, and pink ivory. Exept my friends cue Is 62in and the butt is 31in. It is my favorite shuler, I have always wanted to own one of these cue's, But I and no one else will touch that cue knowing full well how hard it will be to sell it. He bought it dirt cheap, and for the past 5 years or so has regrets of buying it.
Some time's it's hard to find a case for these cue's also, my old justis cases don't hold 30in shafts.
Just my ramblings, I'm 6'2 and switched to a 60in cue in 2005 and switched back to 58in in 2006. It made my stroke lazy, I was depending on the extra 2in to move the cueball and not my stroke. Went back to a 58, and I'll stick with that. To each his own though. What's right for me, may not be right for you. Pat Flemming (accu-stats) uses a 54 or 56in cue.
