My friend has and older cue from 60's or 70's unknown, I don't have any pictures right now. The cue has a 3/8-8 wood to wood with a white joint that is yellowish color but I don't think it is ivory. My question is how many cue makers back then used this joint screw 3/8-8? Thanks for any help. Louie

I might guess and say the joint is Micarta, as for the joint screw, Harvey Martin once used a 3/8X8. Is the cue a plain jane Maple cue?

It is a four pointer with 3 or 4 veneers and it is maple maybe stained and the points are sharp, they do not line up. The bottom is plain, the original shaft is not with it and it has been rewraped.

I wasn't aware that anyone used that size pin but back then most builders used lacquer which as it ages will turn pretty darn yellow.

Before anything is done to it, I would send pictures to Classic cues, Dick Abbott and other people of this nature. Mr. Martin is the only one I know of that used that screw back in the day, and it was brass, he later switched to the 3/8X10. Mr. Martin also helped / taught a couple of good ole boys, Burt Schrager was one of them.

The pin is not brass and the Harvey Martins I have seen do not resemble this cue. I will take a picture of the cue next week when I see him and post it here. Thanks for all you help. Louie
