Hey there,

I've been playing with my plain TAD for quite some time. But if anyone has owned a TAD with TAD's finish on it. You know very well that the finish by Tad/Fred himself are thin and they do come off over time.

My friend(Mr.Lu) from LUSJ saw my cue and he told me that it needs to be refinish.

Before Finish(I don't have the before pics, otherwise it'd show how bad the cue's finish is in):
Shaft 1: No finish, even the rings has no finish.
Shaft 2: Unplayed, stored well, so it is basically in brand new shiny condition.
Butt: No finish on the joint, rings, forearm has an area(about a hand full size, and due to no finish on it, that part turned dark blue), and the rest has small bits and parts with uneven finish.
Buttsleeve has one dent(its so deep that it went thru the finish), and a few chips on the rings, and no finish on the delrin, with about an inch size scratch on the buttcap.

PS: I have only accidentally knock on my cue once which is the ding on the buttsleeve. But the finish on the cue, just manage to peel/came off by itself with hours of long play, or me wiping the cue with dry cloth.

And so, I sent my cue to him as he is very confident with his finishing.

My Quote to him:
- Finish on butt
- No finish on shaft, only the rings.
- No cleaning on my played shafts, cause I like my shafts blue.
- Leather Wrap(I provided him a piece of ringtail lizard)

It took him about 2-3weeks and the result was magnificent. His clear coat finish was superbly shiny. The cue looks brand new now. Pictures do no justice to his finish, but I try to take couple of closeup of the finish. And his wrapping skills are also top-notch. I could barely find the seam. I took a closeup pic of the seam in the fifth pic below.

I played with the cue today, so the cue may not be as shiny as when it was fresh off the lathe. But still let me know what u think of his finishing work below.

And let me introduce him a bit here, he's Mr.Lu from Taiwan. He is a custom cue maker of LUSJ cues. Many of you might not heard of it before, but he has done a dozen of cues in Taiwan and China. He is a very friendly guy to talk to or work with, his cues has high level of playability and craftmanship. Because he is quite a decent pool player here, he makes sure his cues not only have razor-sharp work but he also makes sure his cue plays perfect.

I will be ordering my first cue from him soon. I do not have pics of his cues with me, I've texted him, once he send me a few pictures of his cue. I'll update this post.

Edit: Here is a link to pictures of his cues: http://s45.photobucket.com/user/timothysoong/library/LUSJ Custom Cues
