cue stain

True full penetration dyeing or stabilizing is done in a special made vacuum chamber. Very few cuemakers have the ability to do this themselves. If you are just talking about putting stain on a cue before finishing, then that is just wiped on.

Thanks Chris, yes i'm trying to put color in my cues but i cant get it to penetrate very deep. So they put it in the liquid dye and put a vacuume on it? i wonder if pressure would do the same?

If you want a nice stained cue only use water or alcohol based stains. Normal oil based stains do not penetrate like the others. If you are just after the stained look don't worry about any vacuum pressure, as alcohol or water based stains do a fine job. Leather dye also works good as a stain and can be found in just about any color.

If you want the dye to be done professionally........meaning all the way through your wood. Send it to a professional. Otherwise you're looking at surface dyeing....

The pros use vac and PRESSURE.... about 4000lbs PSI.... Haven't seen too many home shops that have chambers that can handle that. If your wood is nice and you want it done right, then send it out and have it done.... If you want to just rub it on, then try some transtint dye, they have bright colors. -L

I'm actually trying to get bright red, blue, green, etc... Can i get those colors with leather dye?

It depends on what you mean by bright. If you mean like car paint bright then you will have to go with paint. If you mean like most of the cues you see out there then dye is all you need.
