Cue wrap

Hey Guys, ive been making my first cue for a couple of weeks now and i seem to have come accross a small problem, When i cut my channel for my wrap the linen was sitting above the rest of the cue (and yes i know i should of put my wrap on after i put my finish on but i didnt) after i pressed the cue it seems to now be even with the rest of the cue, so can i put my finish over the whole cue or even a bit thinner over the wrap so the dip isnt so obvious,

If you don't want the finish on the wrap, just take some 220 and 320 sand paper and sand about .005" off of the forearm and butt sleeve. You can use a little blue painters tape over the wrap to protect it. Then put the finish ont eh cue with wrap taped off. If you want to finish the wrap also see other post answer.
