Cuelee’s Squirrel Jump Cue first thoughts

Howdy gang,

Just received a Cuelee’s Squirrel jump cue today and took it for a spin. I’ll give a fuller review after a bit more play, but wanted to get my first thoughts down.

To be honest, I was drawn to the looks of the cue and figured I’d give it a shot for $309. Tried a couple times to get one off of Seybert’s but they kept going out of stock. I contacted the company and got the info for another of their USA dealers.

I’ve been jumping for a while and have owned the Cuetec Propel, multiple jump breaks (going back to a custom Bludworth JB), along with trying multiple versions of the Predator line. Skill level wise, I’m steady and repeatable using a jump cue defensively, ie, to make successful contact escaping a safe, but accuracy in pocketing balls has been hit or miss.

The Squirrel has a spliced shaft with 6 maple and 6 purple heart segments which is really solid and gives the cue a more forward balance than others I’ve tried. Evidently, it really suited my style because I was able to cut 10 full ball jump shots into the side pocket in a row. While I’m not too fond of the peppermint coloring on the tip, it did its job well, holding chalk and getting the ball up flawlessly. In a short round of jump cue Olympics, shooting down the rail into a corner pocket, I easily got the ball over 10” off the table while staying accurate. Full table length jump masse was possible as well as jump draw. Basically, it did everything I wanted it to do and looked good doing it.

Shared it around a bit and one of our better players decided it suited him as well and will be ordering one.

Just one guy’s opinion and your results may differ, but this jump cue actually improved my accuracy. First thoughts are that the weight distribution helped with my personal technique.

Anyhow, if you’re curious about it I can wholeheartedly recommend giving it a shot!

More to come…

Steve

Thank you for your review, I've been looking at the playing cues for awhile but not to many reviews about Cuelees. Glad you like it and will be looking forward to a later review.
