Cues: Joss/Falcon for Brunswick

Biloxi Boy

Man With A Golden Arm
I am attempting a deep dive into the Brunswick Cues with the Pool Shooter logo, with or without the "by Joss USA" notation. I've read the old posts and am seeking additional info. I would especially like to see any brochures, Thanks in advance.

Have you contacted Falcon. They identified my cue, and attached a copy of the catalog page.

They got back when they could not help, as well

I believe mine is Falcon made.

Lots of threads on 90's Brunswick Falcons!

I haven't seen a brochure yet though! Would love to!

JOSS version had circular logo with 'by Joss USA'(not all had this iirc) and a different pin. This is a Falcon made cue. JOSS versions used both 13 and 14tpi pin, Falcon 18tpi. No offense but Joss would never let a cue with inlays this rough out of the shop.

I’m curious what it is about the inlays that is rough?

I believe early/mid 90’s.
Thanks. Garczar must have a better computer than I do. I can't see a problem with inlays, but, since you have the cue in hand, can you tell us what he is seeing? Still nice looking from here.

BTW, how do like the way it hits?

I’m away from home where the cue is, but I never noticed anything wrong with the inlays. The only issue I have with the cue is it is missing the weight bolt, which holds the buttcap on.
Regarding how it plays, it plays damn good. I prefer it to my pre-92 Schon. Falcon’s have great shaft wood and tapers, imho.

I have 2 of the Joss built Brunswick cues, both have the 5/16×14 pin

And, the inlays?

Something I do not understand about AZB's forum participation, where are the retired/former Brunswick employees with firsthand knowledge? I would think there would be at least a handful of such folks sitting on ready and eager to share, but there is apparently not even one. Does this strike anyone else as being odd, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Has there ever been such participation?

I don’t really see a problem with the inlays.

I think a hard part about identifying Brunswick cues is that they outsourced cue production from the 60’s to present. Some great and some terrible.

My oldest outsourced Brunswick cue is a Brunswick by Palmer from the late 60’s. Nearly identical to a standard Palmer though with a slightly different joint ring design. I believe Type79 has a handful of them.

So Brunswick has had Palmer, Adam, Schmelke, Joss, and Falcon made cues, plus a litany of others make cues for them.

The picture on post #3 show inlays in the butt that are not Joss quality. Falcon-B'wicks were good cues but i'm standing by my statement.

I would agree, not Joss quality but actually a little better. Joss likes to use rounded synthetic inlays where these are wood on wood inlays. Much cleaner looking IMHO.

This is a general statement. Please provide specifics like PDX did in his reply -- "rounded, synthetic, wood". It is difficult to assess, understand, or respond to general allegations. I, for one, would like to know what you are trying to say. I thought the cue looked fine, still do, but I am concerned there are defects which escape my detection and evaluation.

Over the yers Joss has used both wood and synthetics for inlays. Tighter, sharper execution is what i'm referring to. The later Falcon brand cues got better and better as Ernie and co. learned(from D. Janes btw) their trade. I've owned a couple of these older ones and they play fine.
