Cuetec Avid vs Cuetec TrueWood II butt comparison

I'm buying a new playing cue in the upcoming weeks. I decided on the Cuetec Cynergy 12.5 shaft, but I'm not sure about the butt. I love the look of TrueWood II, but it is almost 5 times (!) as expensive as the Avid (just butt price). It has the same joint, both are extension ready, both have the weight changing system. Is TrueWood II worth extra 400€? I'm interested in how it plays and overall quality. Did any of you have a chance to compare TrueWood II with Avid side by side? What are your thoughts?

I've owned a few CueTec Avid butts and they are as good as anything. Play good, made well. Save your $$ if in doubt.

I think that the extra cost is because the true wood comes with the CF shaft while the avid does not

is extension compatibility the same?

truewood series (not all wood versions) are imo the best looking cues cuetec has made. low bar there maybe but i do like it.

It may not be the way to go for you, but if you like the 12.5 consider a Dakota Edition SVB model. There is a difference in the butt- a little bigger diameter. Upside is included extension. Downside is the extension is not the Duo. You can use the butt adapter and switch to Duo. If you did that you don’t need the Dakota edition.

I have some Cuetec stuff. I don’t have a true wood. In part because to me the look doesn’t justify the huge price difference between it and the Avid butts. I came close to buying a leopard wood one and I like the mappa burl.

Cuetec True Wood - $899 to $1200 depends on the model
Joss plane butt only new on ebay $268 + cynergy shaft - $450 = $718
Similar looking cues, great butt from Joss, less money and you can get cheap aftermart extension for Joss on ebay

I've got or tried most Cuetec stuff. Truewoods look great and have better material, but don't play any better than an Avid butt. Butts in general are more for looks. Avid butts look good in person, but the designs are fairly plain.
