Hi Guys
I am in the process of putting new cushions on my table and wondered how you are cutting the cushion to get a nice smooth face to glue the facing
on to?

Thanks
Gary :)

Gary, This is a difficult job to get a good cut. You should hire a professional and then again in my area so called professional aren't cutting them very good either. The manufacture cuts the end of the rails at an angle, you should cut the cushion flush and at the same angle. Use a long thin sharp knife, lubricate the knife with windex. good luck. The picture is how the cut should look.

When I did my cushions for a 7' table, I knew I would have some excess because the cushion set was long enough for a 9' table. So, I tried a few ways of cutting on the excess rubber, including:

- Dremel tool cutting wheel
- Hacksaw
- Jigsaw
- Breadknife
- Power miter saw

None of these methods worked as well as a sharp utility knife blade dipped in soapy water. Change the blade after 2-3 cuts. You can use a sander to remove uneven edges.

If your cushions are long enough, practice a few cuts on the ends.

Hi Guys

I ended up cutting them with a utility knife and leaving them just a hair long. Then I took a die grinder with a 90° head and put a 2" diameter sanding disc in it. Then I just carefully sanded them down to the the exact angle. They came out really good and much better than the "profesional" that had done them before. I am of the opinion that hiring a "professional" will insure a good job.
