Darkening stain on cue

I got a good deal on a wrapless predator made by Jacoby that I like a lot with my Revo shaft, but the forearm is a dark red stained birdseye maple, which isn't quite my style. It's the predator valour SL1 if you're curious.

Is there any reasonably effective and not crazy expensive way to change the staining to a darker color? Like gray or a very, very dark red?

I know buy another butt is an option, but I'm curious about this idea. Thanks in advance!

Refinishing stained cues is a pain, not only is it time consuming, it's also a "can of worms" situation, surprises is bound to show up, especially on your brand of cue. I know the cue in question is built by Jacoby and hopefully have a more what you see is what you get type thing, but you never know with Predator stuff..
