dead cushions

Where I live we have 6 Proline 4 1/2 x 9 tables which we recover about every year with Simonis 760 or 860. Although the tables look nice the wood is all pine and the cushions are dead. I have suggested many times to have the cushions replaced but was told it wouldn't help - that it is the pine backing that is the problem. Is this true?

I would think so. Is the wood kind of thin? One of the pool halls where I live has Olhausen home-style tables with oak rails but they're not very wide, i.e., there isn't much wood on the rails. The rails will not hold up to power banks that well. If you look at the big commercial tables like GC's or Diamonds, you'll notice how thick the wood is on the rails. JMO.

Not sure what he ment by that........just a usual room owner.....lol! Pine backing where? behind the rubber? Even if it is pine.....don't see where it would make a difference! He just don't want to shell out the cash to get new rubber! LMAO!
