Your dad would be so proud of you, Cat -- just as he always was in life.

He was a great mutually beloved friend to both Grady and myself for many years, and of course to the literally thousands of other friends he so easily and instantly made and retained permanently in his life.

Arnaldo ~ You have so many of his human attributes and his organized work ethics.

Thank you SO much! This means the world to me! I loved my Dad so much and he's probably laughing somewhere that I'm turning his book into "High Art" to share with the mainstream but he always knew I would bridge the gap one day. It's going to be absolutely gorgeous and Mary Kenniston, Sam Fels and others are helping me create a TRIBUTE section in the back with any players lost since the original publishing in late 2012/2013. That would be important to my Dad to keep them immortal. I haven't changed a single word of his writing - just added super cool supplementary sections to the beginning an end and spruced up the cover! xx

It also took so much hard work and patience to get the first edition completed! He's definitely keeping me on track for this one! He was a focused task master when it came to goals!

This makes me SOOOO happy! I love it. Thank you for sharing!!!! The Old Man is getting such a kick out of all of this!!!
Just bought one. I bought the original book and liked your dad. He and I corresponded about Grand-Olive Billiards in St. Louis where I grew up playing. He was a character and there aren't too many around these days. We don't seem to be making more.

Thank you SOOO much! And I always love hearing stories about my Dad. He was the best. A great personality with lots of friends!

I had no idea so many days passed since I own the 1st edition! That's a great write-up, Freddy made such a valuable effort to keep all those players remembered, and his stories are hilarious and colorful, at the very least.

I’ll find you and tell you some.

Are you in Chicago?

Eric Petersen is my real name

Your dad called me Fatboy, I loved him like a dad. That’s the truth. He was great! I’m 55 so the math makes sense.

Best,
Fatboy😃

I know! Thank you so much. Mary Kenniston and Steve Booth are helping me with a Tribute section in the back for anyone who's passed away since 2013. My Dad would be happy about that. And Helaine Garren's photos are unreal!!!

My Dad loved coining monikers for players as he aged. I LOVE it!

Cat: After learning that I've been truthfully telling many people over the years that -- "I wasn't born Italian, but I became Italian" -- via my tremendous love of Italian operatic tenor arias & folk songs; the spoken language; the welcoming warmth of Brooklyn neighborhood Italian families (and the local Wiseguys I knew well); and not least -- the cooking . . . your dad for years always referred to me with his affectionately-bestowed moniker: "Half-Wop".
We'd both roll with laughter every time he said it.

Arnaldo ~ Miss him more, Cat, than I can adequately convey here. As we all do.

Yes, I'm in Chicago
I’ll find you. Be a honor to meet you. Freddy and I had some great talks on the phone and when I was in Chicago.

I told him once “I’m coming to Chicago” he replied “Being a lot of money”. Was a classic Freddy the Beard moment the way he said it.

He was very proud of Chicago as well.

Fun times, I miss him, I think of him very frequently.

My very best
Fatboy <———I like my nickname 😃
