Orcullo beats Gallego in 9 ball.

Score 25-16 small bet(75K pesos) but good match to watch. They played in Iloilo City, Philippines.

I must say watch out for this kid! Orcullo plays very well, very strong pocketing and so relax. Same face gesture from start to finish, very good pressure player.

Thats it for now.

Just out of curiousity, does anything know what this translates to in USD?

Nevermind. I found it online. It is equivilent to $1,336.30.

You'd think they woulda rounded it off to say $1336.00...tough action in the phillipines!!

Voodoo~~~wonders if Roobles carry the same clout as peso's?

Efren and Luat hooked up two years ago for 500,000 pesos a set. That was about 12K USD a set then.
There's good action there. World featherweight boxing champ Manny Pacquiao lost around $50,000 playing rotation. All in good though b/c he doesn't mind. He's also promoted a few tournaments down there.
He's not going to starve. HBO wants to sign him for 10 million dollars for 5 fights.
Joey~Wondering WHEN wil be the day a pool tournament payout a million dollars~

So who won between Efren and Luat?

Luat won twice.

Thanks. Now I'm more afraid than ever of any Filipino pool player I don't know. I never saw Ramil before he played Efren in Reno a few years ago and they both played in the mid to high 900 range! Now there's a player, Orcullo, that is beating Ramil, damned!!

Ramil went to the finals of Sands Regency a few years back. Efren barely squeeked by him. How many good players are out there in the islands?
Tang Hoa told Efren one time he wanted to go with him to check the islands. Efren told him there are 32 guys waiting for him. :D
Same in Taiwan. They have murderers out there too. Ernesto couldn't beat the local shortstops at their own table.

ArNz, Your so lucky to get to see these action matches all the time in the Philippines, they don't happen as often over here.

the only big money game i saw was Jeff White playing someone i don't know for $500 5 ahead.....i left after an hour and a half cause the game was going back and forth.

How's Ronnie Alcano been playing or is he still? I haven't heard anything about him playing in awhile. Thanks for the post pare.

Alot of those shortstops turned out to be champions, I hear. Either way, take a guy like Ernesto who works on tables all day and night, sleeps 3 or 4 hours, barely gets any time to practice, and he goes and wins tournaments. I honestly think that if Ernesto was able to play as often as, say, Efren, he'd hold just as many titles as Efren. The guy just has so much knowledge of the game it's astounding.

Last Two,

I agree with you. I haven't had the privelege of watching Earnesto that much but I have been very impressed with him whenever I have seen him. I did get a chance to meet him and talk to him a little not too long ago. He seemed like a very nice guy! I would put him up there with Efren when it comes to attitude. Earnesto was very freindly and willing to share his views on the game and the other players. There didn't seem to be any BSing in what he said. He likes to gamble and stated that straight up. I got the feeling that win or lose (he'd be winning most of the time I'm sure) he'd be more than willing to shake your hand and thank you for the game. I liked that! It would be nice to see someone with a big bankroll stake him so we could all see his best game come out!
