Desired weight for house cues selected for coversions

I am interested to know if there seems to be a particular weight of house cues that work best for conversions. I know they have to have a sufficient diameter for a truing cut and final turning, so some weight would be lost, but with adding a joint pin, material in the butt, extending the cue an inch or so with a custom shaft, maybe you more than make up for the difference?

Ofcourse Some people like heavier cues, some lighter ones, but even given that I wonder if there is any opinions on a particular house cue weight that experience says is easier to use and balance out, or perhaps an opinion on what is too light or too heavy to start with.

Thanks,
Kelly

House Cues Not Suitable for Conversion

I do not think house cues are suitable for conversion because they are usually warped to start with and too small in diameter to true up.

There was a time many years ago that I could occasionally find a straight house cue that was oversize and straight that that went away with other endangered species. :)

The Valley Supremes work pretty good. They are usually oversize enough to even up the points. I try to use at least a 19 oz and still use a4 inch joint pin instead of 3 inch 3/8 10. I do have an advantage using these because my cues run a smaller diamater than the norm. That is sort of my trademark, and most people like the way it feels.
Good luck,
Chris
