Just a quick report on the Monthly tournament at Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga. It was the strongest field that I remember with a few AZers doing well.
1st David Trest
2nd Brian Jones
3rd Horace Godwin
4th Billy Young
Sarah Rousey finished 5-6 (I think). She was waiting to play when I left yesterday. She played great, and is the class of women's pool (and pool in general).
Landon Shuffett finished either 7-8 or 9-12. I think that Landon can be the future of pool. I am more impressed with his ability and the way he and Stan carry themselves every time I run into them at an event. He beat me out of the tournament 9-6. My excuse is that after playing all day, we met around 1am Saturday night (Sunday morning). He's 11 and I'm over 40
. He beat Cliff Joyner earlier in the day. Did I mention that he is 11 years old? That was a nice win for him.
Jon Hennessee, Cliff Joyner, Jason Klatt, Billy Bailey, Sarah Rousey, Russ Edwards, Scooter.... and none of these made it to the top 4 places. Tough field.
There was a $200 a man ring game after the matches Saturday night. I think Billy Bailey and Jason Klatt were the final 2, but I'm not 100% on this. It's a great monthly tournament. Anyone in the area should make plans to attend.
