Diamond pool tables

I was just wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with the new diamond pro's where the cueball will jump when it rebounds off of a cushion. I have a fairly new diamond and if i shoot the cueball at a speed where the cueball would travel anywhere from 2-3 cushions (long ways), occassionally the ball will jump when it rebounds off of the cushions. Diamond told me that it is normal since the cushion is being compressed but since i have never shot on a newer diamond with artimis cushion i figured i would see if anyone else has heard or seen of this problem

if i shoot a ball into the rail on my Gold Crown real hard it may bounce just a little. sounds like the table is fine. i have gotten real mad before, jabbed real hard at a ball, and banged it into a rail, and it flew up and almost hit me square in the face.

other that this little idiosyncrisy, does the Diamond Table play fine?

Rail height

Normally, when the ball jumps up and back on to the table, the cushion is probably a bit too low...
if the ball jumps straight up and off the table, the cushion is slightly too high..
What is the height of your cushion?...the proper height (nose of the cushion) should be 1 13/32"...
also, when a table is very new...things need to "settle in"...the tightness of the new cloth can make the balls jump a bit...

Yes the cushions are at 1 13/32" and the table is roughly 4months old. But, i don't think that shooting the ball 2-3rails up and down the table is hard. Infact, if you think about it, if u lag for the break.........thats 2rails. Also, if i shoot the ball and it travels 3 rails sometimes the cueball will jump off of 2 of the 3 rails

Cynion, this is very odd to me. My table is about the same age as yours with the artimis cushions. It is next to impossable to get the ball to jump off the cushion unless the ball is in the air when it hits the cushion. No matter how hard the hit.

If I elevate the cue butt and hit with follow the cb will bounce a bit and may jump clear off the table. Any table for that matter.

Best I can measure the nose height is 1.45 " or a little over 1 14/32.

I thought the official height of the Diamond table's cushion tip is 1 and 29/64.

Most of the time when a cue ball jumps off the rail as described, it is mostly due to the elevated levels of humity in the room try a dehumidifer for a day then try the rails again. good luck

The height of the cushion, according to WPA specs should be between 62.5% and 64.5% of the diameter of the ball. So, 2.25” ball x (62.5%) = 1.40625” and a 2.25” ball x (64.5%) = 1.45125” a difference of 0.045”.

Does this happen on every cushion or just one place on the cushion? I’m sure you’ve already checked but didn’t say. Could the cushion nose be pulled down too tightly with the cloth?

Greg Sullivan actually came out and looked at my table and he thinks that the cushion is just a little loose in one spot which is causing a funny sound which made it sound like the ball was jumping when it rebounds off the rail.

Well, there you go. Greg steps up again. Way to go Greg. I am continuously impressed with the way he does business.
