Diamond Pro Cut

Hey benturner!
There are two standard widths of pockets for the 7ft Diamond and the 9ft Diamond.
One is called pro cut at 4 1/2" in entry width and the other is called league cut at
4 3/4" in entry width.
They both have the same rail geometry as far as the entry and exit.
The major difference between the 7ft and the 9ft is the slate shelf depth, which
is 1" deeper on the 9ft.
So you were probably playing on a 7ft that had league cut (4 3/4" ) pockets

The thing about Diamond pro-cut pockets is the balls go in if they're supposed to. Meaning the balls won't rattle if you hit the pockets right. I would say they play fair.

That shelf depth is HUGE when it comes to making the Diamond tables play tough. Even a softy hit ball that catches the points a bit has a great chance of just sitting there, where on most other tables it would drop.
The pockets are also setup where you need just a bit different angle of approach to make the ball than on a regularly setup Gold Crown or something, the pockets are not as flared, so you have to come in at the center of the pocket straighter.
