Last night at the normal Friday night tournament I was happy to see that the owners of Diamond Billiards are truly the best representatives of pool here in Richmond. They come up with creative ways to keep people wanting to shoot on Friday night. It is a chip tournament, i.e. you get a certain number of chips based on your skill. lowest number is four (i think) and the greatest is six. If you win you stay on the table and the incoming opponent breaks. If you loose you lose a chip. When your out of chips your out the tournament.
It cost ten dollars to play. The 10 dollars also gets you one ticket to the big rack. Last night it was up to 110.00 dollars a ball. You can buy extra tickets for a dollar. Every night they raffle off a cue and select three players to shoot the big rack (10 ball) Last night they drew nine tickets and had the nine players compete in a game..where you could select the prize the person got before you our take a chance to get what was in a bag. The contest had three chances of shooting the big rack, a twenty five dollar amount and a fifty dollar amount as well. It was funny as there was one gag gift, and a couple of free spa visits to a place here in Richmond. Diamonds has gotten local business to donate free services to attract players to they stores. Really a wonderful concept of retail working with retail.
The bigger surprise was the announcement of the Pool Room donating 5,000.00...that rights 5 grand to the big rack either this sat or next sat. I can?t remember. You must have played in a certain number of the Friday night tournaments to shoot in the big rack.
I must say that Diamond billiards is truly a wonderful spot. Chris (the house pro) is truly a great guy. He is all about the customers and the advancement of pool in the area. The owners of the room, are truly making an impact on the pool players in the area ..and im grateful that the players in Richmond are showing their appreciation by continuing to come there to play.
If you live anywhere near Richmond or are looking for some action, or even wana make it a fun weekend..come on down to Diamond Billiards in Richmond Va. The tournament starts at 7pm. You will have the time of your life..we keep it moving and funny there. Ohh and on Fridays they have a 10.00 dollar prime rib dinner special..OHHHH my god..it melts in your mouth.. veggies and mash potatoes.. Come on down and visit the pool room
