Hi all,

I decided to play at Babaneau's in Raleigh friday night in the mini tourneyment. It was a $25 buy in race to 5 double elimination. There were maybe 30 players, most geting ready for the trouny Sat. I am a decent league player and thought, what the heck, I'm dead money but for only $25 I may have a chance to play some really good players, and well, we had some there! Rodney Morris, Wayde Crane and Raj Hundal to name three.

When my first match was called, i was put up against none other than Raj, (Wow), I think I made maybe 4 balls, forgot which end of the stick to use, etc. He just killed me but it was great to watch him shoot and he was a very nice guy. He can get out from anywere and has an unbeleable stroke.

Next I played one of our local guys and won that set 5 to 2. YEA, won one!!!

Then who do I match up next with? None other that Mr. Crane himself! I did get one game off him, but then he decided that "this is enough of that", and made some of the best shots I have ever seen. On the 5th game, I tried a very thin cut on the eight that was sitting on the short rail. It bounced off the tit and rolled back on the short rail about 1" past the first diamond and I left the cue ball about 3" inside the first diamond down at the other end of the table. Mr. Crane steps up and shoots a throw/spin/cut shot and cuts it in to the other corner pocket, bringing appluase from everyone. Mr. Crane is a very nice guy, seems to be a real gentleman. He was willing to discuss shots, (after the set ) and is now living and teaching in Raleigh.

I really had a lot of fun. I had the chance to talk with Rodney for a few minutes and he is also a very nice guy, frendly and really seemed to appreciate the respect he received from the pool players in the area.

Babaneau's is a great pool room, Paul treats his customers how they should be treated and it was the best $25 I have spent in a long time!

Well, I did. Glad you enjoyed it. It was a pretty strong $25 dollar field, huh?

Congratulations. Who eventually won the tournament?

Rodney and Raj split and left before the final match. they did stay until about midnight. I can understand it because they had just drove up from Texas.

Have to give credit to some of our local guys, they did play great!

I played V the second match after shooting some horrible pool in the first match. One of us had to win, although I think we both were trying to give it away. Props on the win. I wish I had won it just so I could have played Wade, but I think i left my skill at home that night.
Anyone have the results from the Sunday finals?

Jacoby Tour Results

I'm sure Doug Ennis from the Jacoby Tour will post his report very soon. I don't want to steal his thunder. Rodney beat Raj 9-4 in the finals and both players displayed their superior skills. Wade Crane finished a stong third with Cary Dunn placing fourth. Doug Ennis will be posting a full report later this week.

Thanks to all the players for playing, especially Rodney and Raj who chose the Jacoby Tour and Babineau's Billiards to showcase their skills. These guys are the real deal. I'm a man of few words but it was truly a dream come true
to have Rodney and Raj take the time and support pool at its grassroots.

Thanks also to Mike Davis who drove up from Charlotte, Sydney Champion, and Younger Chapman from Goldsboro, and local favorites Mike Fuller and Robert Ray.
