I recently got a table setup in my apartment and have been working through some exercises - one of which was a straight in draw shot along the diagonal of the table trying to draw the cue ball back perfectly straight in the corner pocket. The balls I'm using were just some standard cheap balls that they gave me free with the table, and I was struggling to keep the cue ball spinning enough across the full shot and still draw the full length of the table. I figured I just had a stroke issue and worked on it.
However just for fun I ordered an aramith pro cup cue ball, and noticed that I somehow could spin this cue ball a lot more - getting the amount of draw I need for this drill seems easy with this cue ball and it seems like I have to hit softer on most of my shots. Also, when I use english, where I had to use extreme english before on ths cue ball it seems like I have to hit closer to center to get on the same lines.
I know very little about the equipment - is it standard that different balls play this differently? Are there weight differences between balls? Should I be practicing with the harder to draw one more as it requires more to get the necessary spin? Or am I just crazy and there should be no difference in spin between balls?
Thanks
