Distractions helping with focus

Let me preface this thought with the fact that I was "herbally medicated" when I came up with this but thinking about it now, it still seems to carry some merit.

I was playing last night with my league team at the captains house. We are all fairly close as far as skill level goes with the captain and I being slighly better than the other 3. We were playing on his barbox 8 ball winner stays format. After the first few games going back and forth I found a zone and went on a winning streak. I won 13 games straight, lost one and then won the next 5 I played after I got back to the table. The end score was 20-3-3-2-0. Ok, now on to my "highly thought out" theory.

The captain and the other 3 guys are country fans and consequently that is all we listen to while we play. I on the other hand, can't stand country music. The stuff drives me crazy. I realized last night that while I was shooting I was completely oblivious to what was going on around me. I coudn't help but wonder if the countless hours of having to tune out the music has helped me focus more when I am at the table. Just wondering what the masses think about it.
