Does a stack wrap tackify or soften?

Hi, did some searching but couldn't find a real answer on this. I had a stack wrap installed on a cue of mine by Mueller's and it's a nice wrap job, looks sharp but I have to say I don't love the feel. My other player has an embossed lizard wrap and I really like that. I'm wondering if the stack will break in some and change in texture and feel. I also would be looking for advice to change the feel if possible. Right now I find it slippery and different than I expected. Wishing I would've paid less and went with leather but for some reason I thought stack would be like a tacky, leather, kind of wrapless feel from what I had read. Thanks in advance.

I don't have the answer to your question as I've never had a stack wrap on any cue of mine. The very few I have shot with, the wrap was nice and smooth on them, not tacky or sticky.

That being said, if you don't like the stack wrap done by Muellers, chances are you won't like a stack wrap at all, as Ryan (forum member RAT) is most likely the one that did the wrap if sent to Muellers and Ryan is one of the best in the business at putting on stack wraps, he probally does as many stack wraps as most all repair guys combined. Send RAT a PM and ask him about the feel and if anything can be done to change it to how you want it, if anybody would know on a stack wrap it would be him.

I had one on a playing cue for 3-4 years and it stayed basically as smooth as the day I had it installed. Felt just like a smooth leather wrap, which was what I was after. I think how it'll 'wear in' has a lot will have to do with whether your hands perspire much and how you take care of it. You may be able to change the feel by lightly sanding it, conditioning it, and then how you buff or polish it. If you don't have much experience with this, though, I would leave it to a qualified cuesmith.

I like the feel of the stacked wrap better than the lizard

Stack wraps can be made to feel a few different ways depending on how it is finished. I can make it more tacky, smooth, or even suede. Unless specified, I finish it out to a smooth feel since that is what is requested most often.

If you are unhappy with the wrap, for any reason, I can rework it to your liking or replace it. My work is guaranteed.

Thanks Ryan, I'll get back to you in PM if I decide to do something with it. I just want to say in the forum that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the wrap job, it's tight, matches the cue nicely, and looks good. This was my fault for assuming how it would feel without doing better research and asking questions. Thanks for the replies everyone.
