A Superb Example of a Troy Downey Custom Cue made in the early 2000s for the Gabe Owen series by Downey. Troy is arguably one of the best cue makers/repair guys on the planet. This cue , out of my collection, is an example of the very best of Troy's talents. A truly beautiful combination of Ebony, Ivory, Snakewood, Silver (ringwork and custom joint protectors); as well as all white being ivory except for the butt cap and JPs.
Incredible Full Snakewood points ( four) into a beautiful Ebony nose. Three veneers ( natural and black) with fantastically executed ivory inlays in each snakewood point. Four Fabulous Triple veneered Snakewood boxes in the ebony butt sleeve with matching ivory inlays in each Snakewood box. ALL inlays and points from forearm to butt sleeve match up perfectly ( so important in a quality cue build).
Fabulous silver and ivory ringwork at all FIVE positions on the cue and shafts. Ivory sleeved cue butt joint with the BIG Radial pin. Black Linen wrap - Troy is as good as anyone in wrap work and this wrap is flawless- so incredibly tight!
Shafts are flawless, newer Ultraskin tips, one ferrule is ivory and one is white Juma. Custom joint protectors are superbly executed and match the cue perfectly!
Cue is 58 inches , Cue butt is 15.8 ounces, one shaft is 3.7 and one shaft is 3.8- so 19.5 and 19.6 ounces. One shaft is full 13MM and the other shaft is approx. 12.8MM. There is no weight bolt but inside cue butt is threaded for weight bolt or rear extension bumper if desired.
The cue is in Fabulous condition- easily 95/100. Everyone comments on this cue- such a nice combo of woods and materials. Cue will be shipped in a newer 2X4 Hard tube Cue case so no threat of shipping damage. A great, great, playing cue - no one will be disappointed- this is a rare cue- FULL Snakewood points as sharp as these are almost impossible to find in an ebony nose cue! Price is $1400 includes all shipping and fees. I only ship to lower 48 states U.S.
John- here is a clear photo of the joint pin- some refer to this as a radial, It extends 1 1/2 inches out from the joint. The shafts are wood threaded with no inserts.
