can someone tell me the thread size on the front of a 300 series dremel
someone suggested it is 3/4" x 12 but i cant find a tap of that size
paul..

I thread cut my adapter on the lathe.
If you do not have threading capability, then a tap is a good choice.
Check that it is 12 tpi before buying a tap.
Some have a finer pitch than 12.

My Dremel model 328 from 1987 is 20 mm by 2.5 mm pitch,
My Dremel model XPR 400 2008, is 3/4 inch and 12 TPI.

I have no idea why the 1987 dremel is metric and the XPR 400 is imperial.
The moulded thread on the XPR 400 measures .741 to .746 diameter. It is not round.

The older model is .780 to .784 diameter about 19.9 mm, and only the 2.5 mm pitch gauge is the closest match. It could be 10 TPI but that gauge did not look as close as the 2.5

My 328 is not a 300, so I am not sure of the diameter of the model 300.
But I would guess if it is 3/4 inch that it will have 12 TPI thread.

I hope this helps you.

To the best of my knowledge Dremel used two thread sizes... the older ones had a 3/4 x 16 thread, the newer styles all use a 3/4 x 12 thread. There may be some other sizes out there but those are the only ones I've seen.

It depends on the thickness of the bracket I suppose, but with My dremels the screw on nose piece was more then enough to firmly hold the dremel onto the bracket, and It's never vibrated loose on Me.
