durometers

Can anyone recommend a site for locating a reasonably priced hardness tester? I am experiencing an unacceptable variance in tip hardness within the same box of several brands. All the durometers I have located are $250 plus. I would also like to be able to test current tips so I could put on a harder or softer tip responding to customer's wishes. Also, if I go off for the $250, can anyone recommend using the A or D scale?
Thanks in advance

Save the $250 and get a hand vise to press the tips before installing them. They are going to get that hard after play, so it will make little difference what durometer says about the hardness. Durometers say the Triangle tips are harder than LePro, but Triangle play softer. You might be surprised how much more consistant the tips in the same box will be after you press them with the small hand vise.

I got mine off EBay. I think I paid about $85 for it.
