I bought some linen rod for joint rings and it comes in a brown color similar to a cardboard box. I was wondering if anyone has used a dye or stain on this stuff to change the color. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks..

I don't think you could the resin would resist staining. You also have to buy from someone who is manufacturing it for it's looks. It's an industrial material and in general doesn't look that good sometimes. I bought some from a local supplier and when I cut it down it changed color almost every pass of the cutter the color was not consistent. You have to buy the right stuff from the right people or you can mess up hours of work trying to save a few bucks.

I bought this from Atlas.I didn't know this stuff came in anything but brown or black. You mentioned buying "the right stuff from the right people", Any chance in possible getting the name of the right people? I'm not trying to save money by dying, just a little ignorant as to all the suppliers. Thank You for the response.

They are the right people, Prather has stuff also. Original suppliers have minimum orders and can take months to get your order. People like Spalding, who I believe actually makes much of the stuff like ivorine, double black, melemine ferrule stock and so on, have pretty large minimums on orders and it is like three months or more lag time for them to run stuff for you.

i succesfully dyed it one time
as one particular cue i was building needed the color adjusted to look good
but the problem was my father is a gunsmith and i had access to about a dozen different wood stains , useing a test peice i tried to die it and only one looked good ill see if i can find the brand i used if you want
