Earl's Offensive 14.1 help needed!

I'm in the process of arranging some "Mini-Tournaments" at my local pool hall. These are for the "day crowd". I think that 14.1 would be a great addition, however, the younger crowd may not have the patience to undergo the original form of the game. I want to propose the "Earl Strickland Totally Offensive Straight Pool", though I need a full set of the rules. So, if we can poll the collective minds of the AZ community, or if Earl can drop in and help us out, we can see if the 14.1 is worth the addition. I love the game, but the kids now are REALLY impatient and don't like running balls...they'd rather take the cheese. Thanks for the help everyone.

i think if you search back you will find another like thread wherein earl discusses the rules.

Thanks for the quick reply bruin70 but, I was hoping to get the AZer's opinion on this one and maybe have Earl give his 2cents. There's so much diversity here on this forum, I think it'll be good to ger everyone's input on how THEY think the game SHOULD be played.

i love 14.1

i am a traditionalist. but i have no problem with this format. since there is no safety play to bail out in case someone screws up, there's more demand on getting it right when it's your turn. i like that concept.

but it think it's one of those things where i'd have to watch it before i give an opinion. interestingly,,,i would probably do better in the new format than the old, because i tend to miss dumb shots and leave an open table for my opponent.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm all about the tradition of the game too. The only reason I wanna get this version out there is that it will allow the kids here to get "broken in" to the game. If they like it, we can teach them the REAL way to play the game. I'm hoping to give it a try for at least a few weeks and see how it'll go. If it works, I'll let you know so you and everyone can come by and see it in action. Maybe, if I can, I'll videotape it and post it!
We can only hope...
