Ebay Zero Feedback Success Rate

I agree with what everyone said about being careful of no or low feedback buyers and sellers. But on the other hand as someone said......everyone starts somewhere. First thing I ever bought on E-Bay was a hard side shotgun case, to protect my cues while flying. No problems with the transaction but the seller never bothered to leave me any feedback. Next I bid on and bought some remote key fobs for my Jeep. The seller wanted Pay Pal payment, and I didn't realize he was selling to me off E Bay until the transaction was completed. Again, no problems, but again......no feedback. The way I finally got my 1 feedback was, a guy who plays at the same place I do was selling some custom made pocket chalkers, and also had them on E Bay. I bought one from him for my wife, and then bid and won it, on E Bay. He gave me some great feedback. Point of the story. If I was to sell something, or even bid on an expensive item, I guess all of you would be cautious, or not deal with me at all.......and for no reason within my control.

Someone recommended using Scot at Proficient as an escrow service, I know Scot very well if you can work it out that would be the way to go. I sometimes buy guitars, vintage amps and cues (on the bay). I have recently always asked if they will agree to an escrow service, whether I use it or not is another story, but their willingness to do it on a large purchase it comforting.

PS if you search ebay they actually have a service they recommend but for a cue I would definitely use Scot.

Good Luck

I just got ripped off by a Zero seller but it was my fault because I should have remembered the name of the guy as a known con man. But it was less than a hundred dollars. If it had been for 500 or more I either would have not made a bid or I would have taken other steps to satisfy myself it was legit before I sent any money.

E-bay could take steps to better ensure that sellers are legit. They could put a min feedback on sellers, even "5" would help weed out a lot of them. They could make sellers provide better identification before being allowed to sell.
