I must start by saying that my benchmark for how a cue should play for my taste is Mike Lambros, for me, the hit and feel of Lambros cues is just about perfect. Prewitt cues spiked my interest a few years back mostly because of the balls Ed had in offering up a relatively plain cue for so much money. I loved the quality of woods and attention to detail, but just couldn't make myself get off the dough to try a cue that was relatively unknown to me. I finally pulled the trigger on a pristine used Prewitt that was close to my preferred specs. This cue is 19.2 oz, flat faced ivory 3/8-10, 12.8mm shaft, ivory ferrule. Fit and finish on this cue is as good as I've every seen, feels great in the hand and has a nice balance. The sound this cue makes striking a ball is superb. Playability is nice, very accurate. This cue feels a little stiff, and doesn't quite spin the ball as easily as I would hope. I changed the tip to a kamui black SS and it helped a little, just think the shaft taper is a little meaty in the mid section and the back end for my taste. I like the cue enough to send it out to Ed and have a second shaft made with a little longer taper and see if it loosens up a bit. All in all, this is a very well made cue that I don't mind owning even if it doesn't see much table time.
