Educate me on cue cases

Hey everyone :) I was using a sterling case that was given to me as a gift. However it will not fit a cue with joint protectors :( So basically I was wondering what a good case is that will protect my cues and be functional (more worried about functional than looks). I hear a lot of good things about Instroke and I saw some nice looking Giuseppe's in the for sale/trade forum but don't know anything about them. Oh, and I'm looking to stay as cheap as possible but get a good solid case... not worried about all the frills and exotic skins/leathers etc.

In short: recommend me some good brands of cases that will take a standard 58" cue with joint protectors :D

Thanks!

I have been very pleased with the Porper case I purchased earlier this year. It has no frills to speak of & is very plain-jane to look at. It was reasonably priced & is a 2x4 model. Also, it is lightweight & very easy to transport.

Any Instroke (including the Predator cases)...all offer the best protection available.

Best value? Instroke Premier.

I absolutely agree with this, best bang for the buck id Instroke Premier. Pockets are a little small, but big enough. Guissippi (sp?) isn't bad also if you don't like the Instroke style for some reason. If money isn't an issue then that opens a whole new series of doors for you (Whitten, Justis, and now Murnak).

I just bought the Action Elite ELN35 case about 5-6 weeks ago. I really like
it a lot. It is a slimline soft/hard case 3 x 5 with spring loaded butts. Side
zipper compartment in large pocket for jump butt. Really good industrial rubber handle, very good and padded wide shoulder strap. I got it for
79.20 with free shipping from Pooldawg.com.

go to
Pooldawg

It actually uses 2 different black vinyls (1 has texture) and is better looking
in person than website pictures show it. Pooldawg is in Colorado.
It is also available from Beadsandbilliards.com that is in Washington for
79.99 with free shipping. Eriklee.com also carries it.

It is a bargain. Normally sells for about 99.99.

Nah, looking for best bang for the buck. Broke from buying a new cue and looking for something quick so I can carry it around with me :D So it sounds like I'm leaning towards an instroke premier.

I have a nice case with wheels for sale here:
http://www.azbilliards.com/vbulleti...ighlight=wheels

It takes my cues just fine with JPs on them...rather long JPs as well. Protects my cues very well and holds the butts and shafts either way with springs at the bottom of the tubes.

Let me know if interested,
Shorty

Not quite what I'm looking for Shorty, need one that takes at least 3 butts.

Thanks to everyone for their input so far :)

Maybe ...

But that Instroke Premier is $135 plus shipping,
and the Action EKN35 3 x 5 is 79.20 with free shipping,
which is half the cost of the Instroke. The shafts
and butts go in either way, and JP's are not a
problem with it.

Okay, I went shopping, and here is what I found:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Instroke-Premie...191936639QQcategoryZ21211QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

These are the two best prices on ebay. Email them and ask why the 3x7 shipping is 5.00 less than the 3x5....they may give you the lower shipping of 9.99.

Only thing I worry about that one, on that website it says it takes up to a 30" butt/shaft and my shaft measures 30 3/4" with the joint protector on, and the butt is basically 31". Hate to order/get one and it not work. This waiting thing is killing me as it is! :)

Thanks! I really appreciate all the help looking around. Going to make some phone calls in the morning and see if I can find something locally here in NC to pick up so I don't have to wait for shipping. Then will drop back to some of these if I can't find anything locally for a reasonable price.

No problem, the shafts are in the soft part of the case, and have
4" room above my shafts (has double zippers zipping around)
It will hold your shafts plus JP's.

I look at the Instroke's mentioned above on Ebay. First 9.99 for
shippin on that 3 x 7 is low, usually 15-20 to ship a case. Must
not have any insurance on it either. The 3 x 5, which is a nice
looking case, is $125.00 plus 15.99 shipping, and I didn't see if
there was ins. on top of that, So you would still be paying half
of the total Instroke price for the Action Elite ELN35. I ordered
mine at 11:15 am on a Thursday, and it was delivered on Monday,
and paid them using Paypal.

Plus the Instroke's don't look like they have a separate section
in the long pocket for a jump butt, the Action does with own zipper.

I hope you appreciate this ... lol

It is not easy to scan a cue case.
Here is the shaft section, and you can
see there is about 6 inches space above
the tops of my shafts.
(and yes, the butts and shafts have tubes)

the ACL37 from action elite is the best cue case out there, sure it ain't cheap, but at a little over $300 you'll have the world's best cue case, and it will last your whole life through. it holds 3 butts and 7 shafts. no matter what the size of the shafts, it will fit joint protecters or not. genuine cowboy leather in black, with gold industrial rivets for support, the case is a workhorse, with humidity controlled tubes. check it out, and buy now. hey, it's your shot!

lol, thanks for going through all the trouble for that. That's definantly not the way I pictured the shafts fitting in there and good point on the insurance thing with the ebay cases. Will definantly have to ask those questions if I go that route. I'm going to cross my fingers tomorrow and hope I can find a local store with both cases to compare them side by side and walk away with one.

I'm sure it is a nice case :) Trying not to go quite that high though. Pretty broke after buying the cue... was a bit more than I had planned on spending, but its definantly worth it :D
