Efren Jumps His Way to Victory!?!

I was looking on Insidepool.com and it said "Efren flew over two balls" to help him win a game. Then he broke and ran out for $10K victory. I don't think I've ever seen Efren even attempt a jump shot- he is world famous for kick and masse shots so he usually doesn't need to even try jumping over balls.

Does anyone know what actually happened? Maybe King Cueball can help me out- he seems like Efrens #1 fan.

Can you imagine if he started jumping balls like Earl and Johnny? The guy is a monster already.

Efren jumps now. He has a break-jump cue. I saw it in LA last November.
He successfully jumped-pocketed two balls that I saw.
 
I say he is still the best in the world! Even though he says "all of my shots are rotten now"! Has anyone seen his son play? I hear is is no "Bata" but pretty good in his own right. With a ton to live up to he has his work cut out for him! Good luck sonny boy.
 
Yes he did jump... and he did pocket the object ball... and he also had position for the next object ball. And as usual, he acted nonchalantly throught it all.

That Andy break/jump cue of his is really working wonders for him. During the finals, he consistently had a monster break. He was breaking from the right side of the table, and was consistently pocketing the 1 ball on the left side pocket. His cue ball would always seem to stop in the middle of the table. I also noticed that he would normally make two or three balls during a break. Lots of break and runs.

Efren also had a couple of spectacular multi rail shots. He had a four rail shot where he pocketed the object ball...and the way he was measuring the angles, you just knew it was not a fluke.

They'll replay the matches sometime this week. I'll try to tape it and we'll do a better job of describing those spectacular shots. There must have been at least 5 spectacular, magical shots in that finals. Great stuff!

I would like to help you out bud but I didn"t see that match. I have seen just about all of Efrens major matches since 94 and i have never seen him do a jumop shot. I would like to have seen the shot im sure it was amazing!

Let me know man, I heard those ferrules hit great. Any info or URL would be cool.

Efren made a jumpshot in one leg of the current asian 9-ball tour, making the ob. Thought at first it was a masse since it was just part of the ball he jumped over but the replay showed it clearly. He did it again when he got hooked, table length. Did not make a ball this time but still interesting to see him do it.

he was kind of "pushed" into it. In a crucial stage in his semifinal match
against Yang in the Hongkong leg of the tour, he made what seemed
like a good safety shot, but Yang simply jumped over it and won the
game and the match. In a match against Mika in the Philippines last
year, Efren made good safety shots but Mika twice jumped over them
and won. I guess it has been happening once too often and Efren
decided that depriving himself of a weapon his opponents are too willing
to use against him would be ceding too much to them, even at this late
stage of his career. Just my thoughts.

Steal me the cue... I'll just have Viattorre make me a shaft for it. :D

The replay of the of the entire event starts on May 17 to May 21. I'll tape it using my trusty VHS and then transfer to VCD. Hope that works for you.

With this latest win, Efren now has 3 legs of the 5-leg San Miguel Asian 9-ball tournament. The last leg will be held in Manila and I'm sure Efren would want to win at home, although this makes him all the more nervous. He has difficulty winning in front of the home crowd since he does not want to disappoint them -- adds a lot more pressure.

On another note, it was kind of funny and sad when Efren observed that even with fellow countryman boxer Manny Pacquiao's disappointing draw decision in his recent fight against Marquez in Las Vegas, the Pacman still won more money than Efren has had in his entire career. For the fight which ended in a draw (the judges voted 10-15, 15-10 and 13-13), Manny stood to earn approximately $.5M. Efren said half-jokingly that if ever he won that much money, he'd quit playing. Still, he was happy for Manny, who's not a half-bad pool player himself, and he said he looks forward to meeting Manny when he goes to Las Vegas where Manny said he'll wait for Efren and the rest of the Filipino pool contingent.

Another fellow Filipino who recently scored big in the international arena, Jennifer Rosales, won around a quarter of a million in the Chick Fil-a golf tournament. Even the World Pool Championships $60T top prize money looked pathetic in comparison.
 
When I told Efren Manny is getting a $10M-contract from HBO, he thought I was talking in pesos.
Yeah, Efren deserves a lot more but this game will never be big.

Yes, it is both funny and sad when some Hollywood fatcat gets $20 million for
fake magic on the movie screen, and somebody like Efren gets pennies for
doing something both MAGICAL and REAL for all our eyes to see.
