English Towards the Pocket

I was watching this kid who is a pretty good gambler play 9 ball and I was amazed that he seem to be hitting the cb in either one of 2 places no mater where he was on the table. It was always 1 tip below center and just to the right for shots he was cutting to the right (inside english) and just the opposite for shots he was cutting to the left. His cb control was fantastic and very seldom got out of line and when he was out of line he just banged it 3 or 4 rails and he was back on track. This was rack after rack after rack it was always English towards the pocket.

I took this idea home with me and did not miss a ball for 45 min., no joke. This way is good if you just want to pocket balls but if your out of line you end up hitting the ball extra hard to go around the table 3 to 4 rails just to get back in shape for the next shot. This makes 9 ball look like a banger game when deep down inside of me I want to be a finness player.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of the term "English Towards the Pocket"?

How many of you shoot this way?

It's called "Inside English". The only thing odd about your story is that this kid didn't use anything else. Most players will use a combination of inside or outside english to get the shape they want, and my understanding is that most players will tend to outside english rather than inside if given the option.

No harm in adding something new to your repertoire.

Now the strange thing about it is that the you see the exact contact point on the ob (no ghostball) and just bang away at it and the ob just goes right down the path even on straight in shots. It is like you never ever hit center ball for anything.
