Engraving or not engraving?

A pro to engraving your cue is that it's less likely to be lost for good if it's stolen (and perhaps less likely to be stolen as well). A negative is that you kill its resale value, so engraving should be reserved for those cues you plan to keep.

Other than these two obvious pros and cons, what's your reason behind engraving or not your cue?

If post-theft ID is your concern, engrave the weight bolt. If no weight bolt, gently etch a unique mark on the butt under the bumper. Either works equally well and provides for positive ID.
