I think that it is great that ESPN classic shows old matches on TV. I remember reading in an article about them bragging about how many hours of billiards they would show for the upcoming year. It seems like they they keep showing the same shows over and over. How many times can u watch a match until u get bored. They has to be more classic matches out there on tape then what they are showing. Anyone else have opinons and this matter.

Modern ESPN is doing what it can to ruin pool for various reasons, ridiculous short races, big pockets, people clapping after every GD shot, Mitch Lawrences ridiculous commentary. But in the older days it wasnt like that. Atleast from what ive seen. Bring back the classics.

I cant stand Laurence either. Can he even play? Is he only a comentator because of his wife. Hopkins the only word he ever says is "PERFECT" but at least he has knowledge about the game. I wouldnt mind seeing some older 14.1 matches. C'mon Texas Holdem Billiards, all it is is a ring game.

I'm with you teko454. I also wish they'd dig into their vault and bring back some 14.1 matches. Give 9 ball and 7 ball a rest for a change.

I like the games on ESPN. At least billiards is getting some exposure. Plus, I'm always watching to learn about the game. It could be alot better, though.

Don't know if this is still the case but the WPBA used to pay to have their events taped, edited and shown on ESPN. I remember Steve Tipton saying it cost somewhere in the area of $30K per event.

There is absolutely no way that pool will get the exposure it needs and it is pretty sad to pay for coverage.

On top of that, the events get broadcast at weird times and often get pre-empted when a live event runs late.
