If an object ball flies off the table on the break, and it is due to poor equipment, is that a foul? Today was the first time I've ever had that happen, and I've never seen it happen before either. The cueball stayed on the table, but the 1ball flew off because the spot is screwed up and it must have been slightly elevated. When the cueball hit the rack, the 1ball hopped up in the air, landed on another ob near the rail and the 1ball dropped onto the rail and then off the table.

Yep, it's a foul. SUCKS HUH? We are all responsible for checking the equipment and the rack. Another tough rule, but it is there.

I had almost the same thing happen to me 2 weeks ago. I was in Boston and my friends and I decided to go play some pool at this place with tables, bowling alley, the works (not jillians). We played 8 ball and I broke first. The next thing I know, the cueball flies off the table. I thought perhaps i didnt hit the rack dead on. The next game, I break and again, cueball flies off except this time 2 object balls fly off with it. So after that I figured it was the table and just used a soft break the rest of the night. The table was an 8 foot with napped cloth and the triangle was one of the cheap thin plastic one. I was tapping in balls every other game just to get a decent rack.

So yea, I took those 2 games as fouls and then adjusted my break to fit the table. Whats important to know that yur opponent is playing on the same table, so its not like it only happens to you.
