I know that ebony, maple, curly maple, bacote, cocabola are pretty common woods to find in cues. What about snake wood? I know it's more expensive and used for inlays and points most of the time. How much more valuable is it when it's used as a complete handle as compared to say curly maple? What are some of the more beautiful wood combinations you've seen?
I like to see curly maple with ebony!

Snakewood is very heavy and very brittle.
I know of one local player who had a snakewood forearmed cue.
It exlploded. The cuemaker did not core it. He just made it a thinner.
I am not into pretty woods anymore as I love the hit of birdseye maple (when done right so it doesn't hit too soft) but cocobola and african olivewood look pretty to me.
Pink ivory and tulipwood are attractive too.
