About a year ago I purchased a new cue Viking Siege 12.25 with the upgrade base which I've enjoyed having. All the marketing wank about low deflection performance cues the bottom line is you have to adjust with side spin regardless what you're equipment is. Last night I experienced a real world appreciation of my "low deflection - high performance" cue.
We're at league playoffs, our team gets knocked out. We're packing up our stuff and one of my teammates wants to play a few racks before she leaves. I rack the balls and she breaks. I had already put all my stuff away so I take her cue, a Mcdermott of some sort, and start shooting. I'm shooting well and soon I'm down to my last ball in the jaws of a corner pocket with the 8 open in the center of the table. I decide play around with the cue, putting max outside spin on it, to go behind all her balls and make a show of it getting shape off 2 or 3 rails. So I call it telling her my intentions. I aim, shoot, and the cue hits my object ball full and follows into the corner pocket scratching. She's shocked I missed but I'm laughing! I immediately realized my adjustment is for MY cue and I needed to adjust way more with hers. Hahaha.
No moral to the story, just was a fun moment to share with everyone.
