I'm wondering if someone has ever experimented with alternatives to chalk? I know Kamui chalk is out there, probably the closest thing to an alternative but is still chalk.
Looking at the fundamental goal: to get a no-slip grip on the cueball when striking it, even for extreme spin... so an ideal compound would be slightly tacky to the touch, not come off when striking the cueball, and no residue like chalk. Has anyone tried something like rubber cement or another compound that dries tacky or rubbery? How about a rubber tip instead of leather?
I'm sure there are reasons why this doesn't work (or isn't legal), just curious to hear of anyones findings in the matter.
