Extending wrap

Is it even possible to extend an Irish linen wrap closer to the butt cap? If so, would a company like Pechauer be capable of doing it?

I am not a cuemaker but don’t do you think you should call Pechauer directly ?

extend the wrap groove, re-wrap the cue, bobs your uncle...

Yes, extending the existing wrap would be a pain, just widen the wrap area and rewrap with new.

When you put a new wrap on it, you just have to mill the cue down to size to except the size of the wrap. So not to make a huge bump. And there's no going back

Not a cue maker, but to do this, wouldn't the butt have to be perfectly straight, or when widening the wrap area, you could get a slightly uneven depth of cut?

Likely there wouldn't be enough difference between perfect and what the cue actually is to make a difference that could be felt.

A competent person with the right tooling and machinery will not have a problem with this. A hobbyist might.

what brand of cue? Pictures are also needed. Can it be done, yes....BUT are there inlays, or decals that would be in the way...you have left out a lot of details needed to advise you on your quest for a longer wrap.

The problem I've run into with this operation is when using speckled linen. The original installer gets a certain pattern going as they unrolll the linen off of their spool and onto the cue. When you try to add linen to on that, it's hard to get the speckles in the same pattern and so the wrap doesn't look consistent from end to end.

Pechauer. I would want the dashed ring /decal? nearest the wrap removed and wrap extended to dashed ring nearest the butt cap.

Yes I should. I just wanted a few opinions on whether it is possible and practical before I contact them.
