If you're a 600 fargo and want to get up to 610 without having higher rated players in your league to play you need to win about 100 games in a row against the available field. :cry:

If on the other hand you need to quickly get down to a 590 for an upcoming capped event all you have to do is hang the nine ball about a dozen times playing 400 players in league play. You can get there in a matter of hours. ;)

Not sure it would be that easy. A persons robustness has a lot to do with how fast they would go up and down. But, your example is a way people could do it if they chose to. No system is perfect. If people want to cheat, and that is exactly what they would be doing, they’re gonna find a way to cheat.

If I'm entering the western BCA regional and 600 and up are required to play in the elite with players in the high 600s they have no chance of defeating and am sitting at 604 you're damned straight I'm getting down to 599 before entering if there's time. Turns out not much time is actually needed. :ROFLMAO: And yes it makes me feel considerably better whatever you like to call it.:LOL: I lost 9 games in league and dropped to 595. My robustness is over 3K. Ended up not entering singles anyways but the exercise was an eye opener. I'm just reporting what's possible, don't shoot the messenger.

Had you not played a tournament in a year? That’s the only way I could see it moving 9 points with only 9 bad games.

I have a regular game with a guy who is to my estimate, a 725-750 rated player surmised by comparing his game to other players I have games with, that have a legit rating. His on the book rating is 596. He plays in a league 1 night a week and dumps, plays in cheap entry local tournaments and dumps, all to keep that rating below 600.

He travels regularly out of town to play in capped tournaments all over, Vegas, Alabama, just got back from Canada yesterday, played me today, and is flying out tomorrow to Indiana. There’s a whole group of people that do it, constantly staring at each other at the same capped tournaments all over. He told me today it’s gotten to where they play each other in action in off hours at the events. It’s the new hustle, he does quite well.

There’s big money at the Iron City events. An honest person with an honest handicap has very little chance from what I’ve heard.

I started playing again after a year off. I have a situational fargo of 511 for 80 games this year. 40 games ago I was still over 600. I have been drunk the last four weeks of play. Actually rattled a few nines I didn't intend too but wasn't all that upset. I have been playing pretty casually.

A whole group? How many is in a group? What is the travel cost to these events.....does 5/6th pay more than the travel costs? Seems like if it is more than about 2....How much are they really going to make?....I can see cherry picking local tournaments....But cross country?.... it does not seem real profitable in the long run....I can think of better ways to make money than trying to go around the country hustling tournaments.

Seems like there could be a easy fix for the TDs if they want to do it....Fargo tracks your tournament performance +/-.......shoot 100- or more under your Fargo for that tournament...scores get thrown out and no Fargo change.........Shoot 100+ over your Fargo for that tournament...You get disqualified and no refund of your entry...Of course not going to stop a few dumped games...but it may slow them down a bit.

Most league players are in the 400 range. If you are 600 you definitely should be beating them regularly--in fact, at a clip of about 4-1. Therefore, beating them at a 4-1 clip won't move your rating. You'd have to do even better than that. But doing worse than that will lower your rating.

For 9 games, your expected record would be between 7-2 and 8-1 (actually, 7.2-1.8 looking at it strictly mathematically). So at 8-1, your rating might move up by a molecule. At 9-0, you might see a small gain. But over those same 9 games there is a great opportunity to drop because 0-9 (or 1-8, or 2-7...) is much farther away from the expectation of 7.2-1.8 than are 8-1 or 9-0.

So, yes, you are right. If you want to cheat, just dog some games against low-rated players.
