Fast or slow cloth

I have a table at home that I use mostly for drills and practice. I need to re-cover it soon, so I'm trying to decide what type of cloth I want. I typically play on 8 footers that have napped woolen cloths. However, I've been considering worsted cloth to improve my speed control. Here's my questions:

- Is it likely to be helpful or harmful to drill and practice on a fast cloth when I typically play on slower ones? It seems like the fast cloth would help my speed control, but at the same time it seems like it would make it easier than normal to get the cue ball to move, which is not reflective of what I normally play on.

- If I decide to go with the worsted cloth is there anything cheaper than Simonis? Since I use the table for drills, I tend to create lines from repeated shots, have paper a-holes stuck all over it, and generally treat it like a practice table, so I'm not sure i want to spend the money for 860 0r similar.

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!

in regards to cheaper "simonis-like" cloth, Gorina is on all the tables in the pool room i work at and everyone says they are the best tables within a hour and a half drive, and it is extremely fast cloth thats what i would suggest, and if u have a old square of cloth laying around put in under ur cue ball to at least stop the huge lines ur tip and shaft create from where u strike the cue ball at on the table if u know what i mean:thumbup:
