Ferrule question

I have McDermott Carom cue model CRMS06 that hits soft and the sound it makes is not solid. Was thinking the tenon/ferrule connection is not good so I turned it down to replace with a different ferrule. As I turn the ferrule down I realized that it’s a one piece ferrule tapped into the shaft. Before I cut off and put a wood tenon in, do you think cutting the ferrule down and threading it for a new ferrule make the hit more firm? Reason I ask is bc the tenon is still the same material that may be the reason why it hit and sound soft/hollow. I’m not sure what material McDermott use but I post some pics of ferrule before and after I turn it down.

Thanks in advance
