Ferrule replacement on cabon fiber shaft

Hey everyone.

I am wondering if anyone had tried to replace the ferrule on a carbon fiber shaft? If so is there any videos showing how to do it. Really need some help. Thanks

Better off asking in ask the cue maker section, they will be able to help you. I also Have a thread on the modification I did to my Cynergy shaft. https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/tomahawk-on-cynergy.509209/.

Hope this can help, though Im not sure what issues your are having with your shaft or looking to do a modification. Best of luck.
I have a pechauer rogue that I want to replace the ferrule but I want to know how you protected the carbon fiber from being scratched. I have a cue Smith lathe mid size Iam wondering how to cut the ferrule down without scratching the carbon fiber

I believe I would send it off to Pechauer to do it. Generally, for most carbon fiber shafts and LD shafts, anyone doing repair work on them will void any warranty, unless that person is an authorized repair person for that company’s cues.

You make a mandrel for the chuck where the shaft screws in.
You make a nylon bushing that fits on the shaft near the tip end and you hold in steady rest.
Then, you screw the shaft to the mandrel and dial in the shaft near the chuck to zero runout.
You dial in the tip of the shaft so it has no runout (as little as you can dial in) at the steady rest.
You use a turning tool to cut the old ferrule off, taking light cuts until you reach the ferrule-shaft interface.
You, then make up a new ferrule to fit the shaft you have left.
You epoxy it to the shaft and allow to harden.
You turn the ferrule down until it is barely larger than the shaft,
You finish by using fine grit sanding paper to give the ferrule a nice polish and take the last couple of thou off the ferrule.
You, then, face the ferrule to the tennon.

At this point you are ready to mount a new tip.

I think it is the nylon bushing that you have not envisioned. This is what prevents scratches on the shaft.

Tape with blue painters tape a couple times around where the chuck contacts the shaf, this works plenty well for me and I have done plenty of work on carbon fiber shafts, do not over tighten.
