I played my sparring buddy the other day and during one run, I didn't have to stop and think and think and think about which shot to shoot next. It just came to me automatically. I was just focusing on potting the shot with little conscious effort put toward the choices.

Finally, I have experienced a run that was "easy." It just seemed to fall into place. Being pretty new at 14.1, I've struggled (sometimes successfully) to pick the correct balls. But this time, I had ZERO problems and just did it.

I only made it to 19, but that was the easiest 19 I've had yet....Maybe I'm finally getting this game? Time will tell.

Anyway, just reporting for anyone who cares about these things and for any newbies who are as frustrated as I was.

Our 8-ball league starts up on sept 8 and I can hardly wait to see how I do against competition, with my newly acquired skills at 14.1. I'm hoping it adds some pizzaaz to my game.

Jeff, I know exactly what you mean. It's a nice feeling when the balls talk to you. They are talking to you, right? I mean with squeaky little voices? Except for the 8-ball, of course. He's a baritone.

Nice doesn't describe it.

I was just moving back and forth, mostly around the foot end, and it was as easy as walking or talking...my shots just came and went. la la la

It wasn't even what I've experienced before many times as "deadstroke." It was easier than that...not sure it has a label, even.

It will definitely come in handy, especially with BB 8-Ball. So many times the cluster management aspect of 14.1 comes into stripes and solids.

Yeah, when Okinawa77 was here a few weeks ago we played 8-ball most of the evening. I haven't played 8-ball in so long I honestly can't remember. More than 15 years easily. The thing I noticed was that I was seeing patterns that I use in straight pool, the ending diamond for example, and I was doing really good on breaking out clusters. I think for someone that hasn't played 8-ball in so long I did pretty good that night.
