Finding local cue repair service providers

This may be a dumb question, but how would one normally go about looking for a local cue repair service provider? I am looking to get a tip on one of my cues replaced and would rather not do it myself. I tried using Google and it wasn't too helpful. Due to owning a pool table, I also haven't been to a pool hall for a long time to ask anyone either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just call the pool halls, the desk person should know.

Alternatively, post where you live here and ask for recommendations.

This is the answer. In the past, every pool hall would have someone who would maintain the house cues (repairman).

I live in Austin TX
What all do you need done? If it's just basic stuff like replacement tips like you said, Austin Billiards can do it. I use them quite a bit as they are just up the road from my office. They have done a good job for me. If memory serves, a Kamui Black Clear was like $40 or $45 installed.

For more complicated stuff, you will probably have to find one of the local makers either directly or at an event to help you out. Off the top of my head that would be James Hanshew or David Wimer.

Like garczar said, Skinny Bob's can probably get you in touch with either of them and may have other suggestions. Wimer shoots at Skinny Bob's fairly often and Hanshew is often there with his equipment at events.

Essentially I need a tip repair from someone who knows what they are doing and can do a great job.

I've had at least 15 shafts retipped at Austin Billiards and I haven't had any issues. Only "problem" I can recall is that they didn't have a few particular tips like a Caiden fighter but that was a few months ago.

Are you able to bring them your own tip? Thanks!
