20th cue completed. Birds Eye Maple with Veneers of White / Black / Blue / Black / White / Black. I had my milling machine set up different and forgot, so the points are a little farther apart than normal. They are also shorter than I like, but that's because I must have forgotten how to use a micrometer and also cut the grooves with the forearm a bit larger than I usually do. I'm not happy with that, but almost everything else came out perfect (except the bit of dust on the butt cap).

The cues going to a good friend in Miami. If it wasn't going to her, I'd probably end up keeping it as I'm not happy with the distance between and the length of the points.

I'll have 2 more finished before the end of the year. A 36" cue for a kid and a 56" cue for another kid. Both were made from screw ups that would otherwise have ended up in the burn pile.

So, 22 cues for the first year. Not too bad, considering the first one was finished in April. I have close to 10 more that are near completion, so should get a good jump on next year, although I still doubt I will pass 30.

Anyway, here's the pics ...

Wow!!! I really love the thin black veneers; it does something to enhance the other veneers. I've been watching all of the threads with pics of your cues, and I must say it is very very impressive. You have a knack for design that I don't see in to many builders with you choice of veneers, ring work, and combinations of woods. Awesome!!!!

Thanks for the compliments. As for the ring work, I don't think I've ever used ringwork I haven't seen anywhere else. My earlier cues had wood rings, which I didn't remember seeing, but since I've seen them quite a bit. As for the Veneer colors, I just throw stuff together and hope they come out good. Or, I ask my wife to pick out some colors, then disregard her choices and do what I want anyway and yell at her for mixing up my colors. She actually picked out some nice colors (Cherry Blossom Theme) that I glued up yesterday.

I saw the thin black Veneers in the Ron Haley cues posted and loved them. Tried them out on one cue and they worked, so I have a bunch going with them. I agree that it definitely brings out the other colors. Ron emailed me a picture of some forearms and there were two identical except one had the thin blacks and the other didn't. The one with looked so much nicer than the one without.

Hopefully most of my cues will have inlays next year. I've been doing a lot of practicing and getting more comfortable with it.

Which material did you use for the joint ??

**nice Cue **

Aegis II. Not sure why I keep using it. I guess because it's very white, but it is near impossible to keep the dark dust out of the pores. It looks clean and then you get some finish on it and it's a mess. Cocobolo dust seems to be the worst with it. I just finished another cue with Ebony and they are still white as can be.

Nice points

nice points, is it just me / the pic or does the linen judd out at the top of the wrap bottom of the forearm? It doesnt look seamless, either too much linen or not a big enough handle groove?

Actually, you can't feel the difference in height between the wrap and the finish at the front or the back. I think the photo is misleading because I haven't cleaned up my mess after buffing the cue. It's actually the best wrap I've done so far.

Well if you can try to get a sample of ELforyn from Atlas...It doesnt take the dust and looks like real ivory. Cocobolo dust is the worst and you really have to be careful with it.

Elforyn Joint Sample
