Hi i am currently making a cue and i just wanted to run through the finished process just to verify i hasve it right:
1) sand down to about 1000 grit
2) Burnish the top 6 inches or so with leather
3) finish the cue of with clear coat in neumerous stages then buff it up

when do i dip the cue in nelsonite? and also is there a product in australia similar to nelsonite and if not what is the chemical name for nelsonite so i can find something similar over here. Thanks for all you help joel

Not before you finish it. I start with 320 and sand with 600 between coats.

Not in the pre-finish stage

Yes. Sand with 600 or whatever your paint mfg. recomends between coats. When done wet sand through 2000 and rub and glaze.

If you are ready to finish the cue it is too late.

I have no clue.

If i just clear coat the shaft and burnish the end do i need to dip it in nelsonite? ive also heard of some people making concoxtions of bees wax and linseed oil boiling it up and sealing wood with that has anyone tried anyhting similar? ive only shaped the cue so far and have sanded down to 180 grit i was planning to put on the joint gear next and ferrule, is this still to far into thew process to dip the cue?
thanks for all your help joel
