First day with my Aramith Tournament Black , dinged already

I was playing at my clubhouse with a neighbor.
He was slamming his shots, no clue why.
After he got tired of loosing and left I decided to wipe off my new cue ball.
I see lots of blue stains, the color chalk he used. Under one glob of chalk I find a 1/4” ding . Looks like it is through the clear coat not into the ball.
I tried buffing it out, no luck.
Any suggestions?

I see three marks but can't tell just what you're talking about. Is there a chip in the ball or just a finish flaw? Might try Aramith direct. If its just a finish flaw it might buff out.

Unless your neighbor was playing with a phenolic tip, there's no way it was anything he did to cause the blemish. My money is on the table you played on has nail in pocket liners and one of the nailheads was exposed causing the nick, I'd wager some of the object balls have them too.

Where did you buy your Aramith Blacks?

The one at 12 o’clock is my skylight it is below that also the one at 4 o’clock is my ceiling light. It’s the dull spot in the middle .
I tried buffing it with a very mild abrasive, no luck .

Most phenolic tips won't do this either. G10 tips will. I agree that a nail/brad head is 'cause of this. Unless your 'ex-friend' was slamming the ball on concrete there's nothing else that will cause any damage. Just slamming balls into each other won't do it. If its just cosmetic i wouldn't worry about it. If its 'feelable' size just get a new ball. And check table pockets very closely.

Cue balls are disposable in my opinion. I feel they last a month or so of hard play. I order Measle cue balls direct from aramith by case.

Phenolic tips scuff the ball. Maybe this is less with the new chalk, but with traditional chalk, it is very visible if you look for it. Miscues seriously scuff, burn, and mark the ball. If there's chalk on the cue ball, it can scuff the object ball.

Aramith ball cleaner should be able to fix the problem. I would rub the problem spots individually and then clean the whole ball.

In the very old days, it was standard to have a dedicated cue ball for smash breaks. I bet your cue balls would last longer if you tried that. Maybe buy sets of Casino balls and use the yellows and reds.
