I am an beginner/intermediate player who is wanting to learn to jump the cue ball. I am looking for an inexpensive, but capable, jump you that will work easily for me. Looks are secondary to capability of jumping to me, so what would you recommend for me?

A lot of people around here will say JJ. I haven't used one so I will say to look for a used Predator. That's what I found and I love it.

The bunjee jump cues perform great. They are $65-90 depending on which style you like the looks of.

Jacoby.

Light weight is your friend in jumping

The Jacoby at a little bit over 7 ounces is one of the very lightest on the market

Well under $200…

Here is the jump cue that I bought, hope it works out, have to get some lessons on how to jump. Any suggestions?

Looks like a good little cue that should serve you well.

Simply find someone who jumps well and ask for 10 minutes of their time. Then like everything else it's simply a matter of practice.

Early on you'll need to decide whether you prefer a traditional stroke or a dart type. I'm a bit unusual in that I prefer the dart stroke for everything, primarily because of shoulder issues that keep me from getting as high as I need to with a more traditional stroke. I also find it easier to aim shorter jumps because I'm standing taller.

The one thing to remember is that it's not a "hard" stroke it's a "quick" stroke…

Have fun. I promise that within a short period of time you will really appreciate having another tool in the toolbox…
